連續11場出賽，天使日籍好手大谷翔平打擊手感沒有下滑，今天對水手擔任第4棒、指定打擊，首局就敲出陽春砲，成為大聯盟日本球員單季20轟的第2人，也繼續推進日籍打者大聯盟菜鳥年最多轟紀錄。
天使第1局就攻下3分，第3棒楚奧特（Mike Trout）先敲出2分砲，大谷翔平接在後面攜手敲出「背靠背」全壘打，大谷在1好3壞後，面對拉米瑞茲（Erasmo Ramirez）的一顆88.哩二縫線速球，敲出中外野大牆。
大聯盟日本球員上一次敲出單季20轟的是2010年的松井秀喜，當時他也效力於天使隊，敲出21發全壘打，而日本球員單季全壘打數前5名也都是松井秀喜，最多是2004年的31轟。
此外，大谷翔平本季在打擊區上敲出20轟，在投手丘上出賽10場，也跟進傳奇球星貝比魯斯（Babe Ruth）的行列，成為大聯盟史上第二人，若再加上9次盜壘，則是史上第一人。
